How's it going? I'm so glad you're here!
My name is em Rose, and I'm a photographer, digital designer, ceramicist, and painter in the mid-Michigan area, originally from Clare, Michigan. I first became interested in art at a young age, and have been learning and developing my skills ever since. I recently finished my Bachelor of Applied Arts at Central Michigan University, with a Studio Art Concentration, and minors in psychology and leadership.
I continue to explore new mediums and concepts, but I have recently begun exploring abstraction, and the boundless opportunities that it presents. It’s teaching me to focus on the process in the moment, and allow the finished product to happen more organically. I’m influenced greatly by my own personal experiences, vulnerability, and mental health experiences. Texture has such a grounding quality to it, that I wanted to bring it to the forefront and how it’s helped me since being diagnosed with a severe panic disorder. By layering these influences, I am able to create art that encourages inner reflection and awareness to mental health.
Through my work, I’m striving to facilitate a celebration of the human condition and create a space for people to observe it deeper. I want to communicate the stunning experience of being alive and vulnerable; how it can be exciting and interesting. It’s important for us to be in-tune with ourselves, and I want my work to encourage viewers to find that relationship within themselves as well.
Take a look around and enjoy!
